When I look at now
From my soul and my heart
Controlling my time
I control my life
Right through my mind
As I write

When I look ahead
I do bide my time
For the future all I see
Is a stream of days
But I’ll remember just some

When I look behind
The time has clenched my life
From bed to box
From box to bed
From work to dead
Catching the midnight’s sun

When I close my eyes
The time keeps passing by
It’s running fast
I can’t catch it, it’s in the past
Though these poems will outlast
They’ll live by and by
